1Samuel 18:1-4

Jimmy, a teenager, was new in school. One day he met Aaron who was an old student. Although they both have different circle of friends the two became good friends. They would do things together and promised to keep the things they shared highly confidential. One night Jimmy caught Aaron doing something that really frustrated him. Upon seeing that situation Jimmy thought of pulling away for a while for him to fully recover and regain his respect back for Aaron. Although Jimmy was not talking to him for a while nevertheless he was sincere in his promise to keep things secret between the two of them. Sure enough Jimmy kept it within himself. Because of this Aaron was doubly blessed: Jimmy accepted him and their friendship strengthened.

There are times in life that we have so many friends, but when the moment comes that we are down and need somebody to lean on no one is available… It is in most trying times one could realize who among his friends would stick it out, come to his rescue when he need help or comfort.

David and Jonathan were good friends. At first their relationship was fine. Events tried to test their relationship, yet no matter how difficult the situation was, both of them remained sincere in their oath to be friends.

Trustworthy friends are very hard to find these days who can stick through thick and thin in life. Like David and Jonathan their friendship has been tested to the maximum limits but they have proven the bond that God has bestowed upon them is stronger than anything else. Friendship isn’t finding the right person but creating the right relationship. It’s not how much love you have in the beginning but how much love you build till the end.
