FRIENDS FOR LIFE

Proverbs 18:24

Rian is an ordinary fat kid searching for friends. High School days are said to be the best years of a student life! But for Rian its the worst days in his life. That is why he promised to try everything to the best of his ability to overcome everything and to prove to people that he is somebody and that he can do something! He became well known in the field of theater…he was an excellent actor!

College days came and things are somehow getting better. Rian became more active in youth ministry. In spite of the fame and the applause of people every time he performs there is still a big vacuum inside him that he does not understand. A craving for that feeling of "real belongingness" a friend that would stick with him through thick and thin in life. Until one day at camp he remembered that during his high school days he met somebody who promised him a friendship that would extend beyond time a kind of relationship that this world can never give. A friendship that would stick closer than a brother and “greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends”(John 15:13). That is Jesus!

Since then Rian was not the same anymore, even though alone most of the time, he can still afford to smile and entertain himself because, he has found a friendship that is like a tree which is not measured on how tall it could be, but on how the roots have grown deep into the relationship. Because this kind of friendship is deeply rooted by FAITH!

Painful as it may be at several circumstances but it was the worthiest walk of all times.

Now that Rian is a professional, God had seen all his struggles in life, God has heard all his pleas. Although Rian was never perfect! He had his own share of loop holes every now and then. But since he had a zone of safety in the name of the Lord who is his strong tower and the one who gives him courage to push on, the one who gives him a kind of restoration that the world can never give. He can just laugh at all the trials that comes his way. Now he understands and realizes why God has allowed him to experience all those things because God was training and equipping him for the kind of ministry that God will be placing over his shoulders.

Finally Rian has now found friends whom he knows that though they are far away from each other he is assured that they are their for him when he needs them. Even though they belong to different circles / groups it is here that we can see the beauty of God's intervention that if God blesses the relationship it will surely be a strong one that even distances can never separate. Because Jesus is a true friend to all believers who sticks closes than a brother! For all the things that Rian had experienced in life all he could say is “Thank you Lord for stepping into my life and being my best friend!”.
